code : TiWiKi is a kollektiv tokio project launched during the international design show, Tokyo DESIGNTIDE 2009.

For this worldwide premiere, a limited edition of three hundred unique handcrafted TiWiKis have been created. Each specimen has a number, a name, a color and a personality which set it apart from the others. All three hundred TiWiKi have been placed everywhere all over Shibuya, on trees, urban furniture, bus stops, notice boards, scattering the urban public space. The conceptual map showing each TiWiKi’s original location – thanks to its abstraction – not only helps the walker to find them but also to acquire a new urban perception.

However, coming into possession of a TiWiKi is just the starting point of the process kollektiv tokio has set up. Beyond the magic of finding these little chubby creature in this neon drenched concrete jungle that is Shibuya there is the will to offer the opportunity to everyone to be both observer and actor and to actively participate in this urban installation. In fact just by employing all the available tools one uses every day (mobile phones, QR code, internet) it is possible to be an integral part of this project. Also hopefully TiWiKi will be shared, lent, offered or just left somewhere so that more and more people can participate.

And that is exactly what code:TiWiKi is all about – creating an interconnection and interaction between TiWiKi, the urban space and people while offering everyone the chance to be part of this progressive, interactive and participatory operation which makes the city a playground.

code:TiWiKiは国際的デザイン展覧会である東京デザインタイド2009期間中に立ち上げられたkollektiv tokioプロジェクトです。

この世界的な初公開の為に、３００体のユニークな限定版TiWiKiが手造りされました。それぞれのTiWiKiが異なる番号、名前、色と性格を持っています。３００体すべてのTiWiKiが、渋谷の町にある木やベンチ、バス停、広告など様々な場所に置かれています。コンセプチュアルマップ上には、TiWiKiがいる場所が示されています。地図は抽象的なので、TiWiKiを探すだけではなく、街での新しい発見につながります。

しかしTiWiKiは、kollektiv tokio(集合体東京)の立ち上げの出発点でしかありません。この小さな太っちょを、ネオンで覆われた渋谷というコンクリートジャングルで見つけるという魔法の先には、みんなが積極的に参加出来る都市のインストーレーションを提供するという目的があります。日常生活で使う道具(携帯電話、QRコード、インターネット)だけで、実際にこのプロジェクトの重要な部分になることができます。また、TiWiKiがシェアされたり、ただ何処かに置かれて、もっと多くの人が参加できるようになればよいと思っています。

そしてこれが正にCode:TiWiKi です＝都市を遊び場として、人々にこの発展的な相互交流型の作戦の一部に参加する機会を提供し、都市の空間、人々とTiWiKiの間の相互作用と相互交流を造りだすことです。

さあ！みんなでこの素晴らしいアドヴェンチャーの一部になりましょう。
